Between September 19 and October 1, 2025, members of our laboratory – Kateřina Mayerová, Erik Bartuli, and Jiří Hvožďa – participated in a research visit to South Korea and Japan. The trip combined active participation in an international scientific conference with follow-up meetings at partner universities to strengthen ongoing collaborations.
In Busan (Korea), the team attended the 35th International Symposium on Transport Phenomena (ISTP-35), where they presented several research contributions focused on polymeric heat exchangers and thermal management of batteries.
Kateřina Mayerová’s poster presentation, showcasing the work of bachelor student David Páč under the supervision of Erik Bartuli, received the Best Presentation Award – a remarkable success that highlights the quality of student involvement in HeatLab’s research activities.

After the conference, the delegation visited Nagoya University and Kyushu University (Japan) to discuss progress within the international project EIG CONCERT JAPAN – “Hollow Fiber Heat Exchangers with Reduced Permeability for Smart Cities.”
Meetings with Professors František Mikšík and Kyaw Thu, together with local students and fellow researchers, focused on ongoing research cooperation, mobility opportunities for both students and researchers in 2026, and preparations for the 3rd Czech–Japan Workshop on Intellectual and Technological Exchange, which will be held in February 2026 at Brno University of Technology.

The mission successfully strengthened scientific collaboration between partner institutions and promoted the innovative research conducted at HeatLab and the Brno University of Technology in the field of heat and mass transfer.
